In 2024, during the record drought that ravaged the state of Amazonas, truck drivers tried for several days to travel to Manaus via the ferry that leaves from the municipality of Careiro da Várzea, located in the metropolitan region. The line of trucks stretched over 8 kilometers, one of the consequences of that year's record drought, bringing the risk of shortages of various products, in addition to leaving professionals in a delicate situation, as some reported at the time that they had been waiting for about 8 days to board without any estimate of when they would arrive at the Port of Ceasa, in the Amazonas capital.
